The Ministry Teams of Royster
The Session of RMPC has established a number of “ministry teams” to assist in the accomplishment of the church’s mission. These ministry teams act as committees with responsibility for designated church functions.
The Administration Ministry Team is responsible for the general administration of the church. These duties include management and oversight of church budget and finances; management of church staff; and conduct of the annual stewardship campaign. The team works closely with the Church Treasurer and Clerk of Session.
|Finance Committee (Administration Subcommittee)|
The Finance Committee, subcommittee of Administration Ministry, advises on the financial activities of the church including providing for an annual financial review or audit, recommendations and oversight of investment of church endowment funds and advises of financial policies and procedures.
|Christian Education Ministry|
We coordinate Vacation Bible School in the summer. We sponsor either a Harvest Fest or Pre Trick-or-Treat party in the fall. We sponsor a community Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving day for anyone interested in coming, including homeless, neighborhood friends, and those who have no-where to go that day. We work with youth and plan fun things like chili cook-offs, high tea, etc. We also have a Christmas party and do caroling.
|Congregational Life Ministry|
Congregational Life Ministry Team supports members of the church through fellowship and support activities. These activities include women’s circles and other activities, the Wednesday night forum, monthly “Friday night out” dinners, monthly fellowship luncheons after worship, Christmas caroling and recognition of the birthdays of church members.
The mission of the Evangelism Ministry Team is to bring our members to the understanding that evangelism is the task that Jesus gave his disciples: To share the Good News of the Gospel and bring others to Jesus and His church. |Outreach Ministry & Mission Team|
Leads and coordinates church programs to reach out and assist those in need, including operation of a food pantry, and participation in the annual NEST program in support of the homeless. Other outreach activities include support of oversees missionary efforts in the Nicaragua; support of Norfolk Urban Ministries, ODU Campus Ministries, St Columba Ecumenical Ministries for the homeless; scholarships to Granby Elementary School; community gardens; and PEVA Unified Mission activities.
The Property Ministry Team oversees the maintenance and operation of the church’s facilities, and manages capital improvement programs and projects. The team is also responsible for energy management in church facilities, grounds maintenance, and custodial services. A number of church members volunteer their time for repairs and improvements. The Property Ministry Team also acts as liaison with tenant organizations on their use of the facility and maintenance.
Assists the Pastor in the worship program by overseeing the music program, coordinating worship functions including communion, ushers, acolytes, and greeters. The team coordinates special programs for worship.
